Electric Guitar – Amps and Effects?
I have been playing acoustic for some time including some “friendly” public stuff. I have been given an electric guitar and practice amp. What equipment do I need to buy to have a good blast? I.E. Amp, effects etc. I may as well go for something reasonable as there doesn’t seem any point in having upgrade in the near future.
I would appreciate a steer from you guitar people out there; how much am I looking at spending in the UK (although any advice from anywhere is always welcome! Thanks.

Its all down to money and how much you want to spend I use a Marshall MG 100 dfx amp in the house not because its loud but for quality sound even at low volumes and of course i can use headphones on it.The amp itself has loads of effects built in and also i can get some great distorsion as for pedals i use a Marshall Guvnor which is great for playing metal but i also have a few multi effect pedals which you can pick up really cheap and they have some great sounds in them but you can also edit the sounds and save them i normally go for Zoom pedals i like them alot the best multi effect unit i have is a Zoom GFX 5000 which you can record on and play to drum beats n stuff.The main thing i use is a Line 6 Guitar Port straight into the pc via usb and play through my speakers great tones,you will probably be able to pick up a decent effect unit for around £30-£40 if you look around and if you go second hand make sure yo try it first.A amp and multi effects pedal is all you wil need at first so good luck and shop around
