How much does it cost to fix a dented fender?
I understand that it’s best to go to a body shop for an estimate. However, since I’d be paying for this out of my pocket, and I’m not sure I want to go through with this, I’m hoping to save some time by asking some knowledgeable folks here on Yahoo.
It’s the driver side fender on a sedan.
The paint is silver with clear coat.
The dent is about the size of my hand, just above the tire.
Some of the paint has chipped.
Can someone knowledgeable give me a range?
You will be looking at requiring the dent “popped” out. Since some of the paint has chipped, then there will be some sanding and prep work involved. if the primer coat has been damaged, then you will need the area sanded and re-primed.
A spot repair will cost you about $250 (Assuming you have an acryllic paint and clearcoat.) The whole fender won’t need to be painted if the rest of the paint is in good shape. Most body shops will provide a free estimate. and many body shops have one estimate for “insurance jobs” and another for “U-pay”, check them out, you may be pleasantly surprised
