Is Schmidt a decent brand for a classical guitar?
I’m thinking about purchasing a used Schmidt classical guitar on my local Craigslist and would like some information on their quality and what price I should be looking for on a gently used one.
FYI I’m a beginner player and I’m just learning for my own enjoyment so I don’t need a high-end/high-quality guitar, just a decent one.
Hi, Ive been playing classical guitar for a long time now, and ive been looking at lots of low price range guitars for my students. Ive never heard of schmidt, so i assume you’re not in australia!
I suggest as a beginner, that you do not pick your guitar on your own. Bring a friend who has played for a while, or even better bring your teacher.
DO NOT listen to salesmen, i did work experience in a guitar shop and they talk up bad guitars to the customer trying to make a quick sale.
Once the person you are with has picked out a few good guitars, play a bit on them yourself. Find one that feels comfortable to play, doenst have buzzing frets (especially when you play single notes in the bass above the 5th fret!)
I cannot suggest one brand on its own because i dont know whats in supply for you, but you generally cant go wrong with Yamaha and (if you want to spend a bit more) Admira.
I hope this helps. If you need any more info contact me at jaredmallitt@hotmail.com
